Why Indian pomegranates for export

India is the world's largest producer of pomegranate, with Maharashtra alone accounting for over 50% of national output. The combination of long sunshine hours, well-drained semi-arid soils, and decades of horticultural expertise produces fruit with the deep colour, sweetness and shelf life that international buyers demand.

Three things distinguish Indian export-grade pomegranates from competing origins: colour intensity (Bhagwa is recognised globally for its deep ruby aril colour), brix levels (14–17 brix is at the high end of commercially traded pomegranate), and size consistency (Indian packhouses grade in standardised tiers 250g+, 300g+, 400g+ so importers receive predictable cartons).

ZoeM International sources from established farmer producer organisations (FPOs) across the Sangli, Solapur, and Anantapur districts. Our pre-shipment grading is done at GAP-certified packhouses, and every container ships with a NABL-accredited lab report covering brix, moisture, pesticide residues, and visual quality.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions

What varieties of Indian pomegranate do you export?
We primarily export two varieties: Bhagwa (deep red, sweet-tart, the most internationally requested Indian variety) and Ganesh (slightly larger fruit with pink-red colour and milder taste). Both are sourced from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh growing regions and are produced for export with international colour, brix and size standards in mind.
When are Indian pomegranates in season?
Indian pomegranate harvest peaks September through February. Maharashtra production typically delivers from late September to January, while Andhra Pradesh staggers slightly later into February. Controlled-atmosphere (CA) storage allows us to deliver some volume into March-April. For consistent year-round supply we work with multiple regions on overlapping harvest windows.
What size grades do you supply?
Standard export grades are 250g+, 300g+, 400g+. We also supply custom grades for premium retail accounts (e.g., 500g+ for boutique buyers). Each shipment is hand-graded at the packhouse and certified before loading.
What is the Brix (sugar level) of your pomegranates?
Our export-grade Bhagwa typically tests Brix 14–17, which is at the high end of internationally accepted commercial quality. Ganesh runs slightly lower at Brix 12–15. Lab test reports are provided with each shipment.
Are your farms certified for GAP and food safety?
Yes. Our supplier farms operate under Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and our packhouses are FSSAI-licensed and APEDA-registered. Pre-shipment testing covers pesticide residues, heavy metals and microbiological contamination at NABL-accredited Indian laboratories.
What payment terms do you accept?
Standard terms are 30% T/T advance + 70% against B/L, or 100% irrevocable Letter of Credit at sight from a first-class bank. For established buyers we can extend D/P (Documents against Payment) terms.
How quickly can you ship after a confirmed order?
During peak season (Oct–Jan), shipment is typically 7–10 days from confirmed order and received advance. Off-season shipments require 2–3 weeks lead time. Transit times from India: Middle East 7–10 days, Europe 18–25 days, North America 25–35 days.
