Why Indian ginger for export

India is the world's second-largest producer of ginger, behind only China. The Northeast — particularly Meghalaya and Sikkim — produces premium hill-grown ginger with distinctive aroma and high gingerol content. Karnataka and Kerala dominate volume production for export.

Ginger ships in three primary forms: fresh (cold-chain, 30-day shelf life, primarily Gulf and Asian markets); dried (whole or split, long shelf life, lower freight cost); and powder (ground at FSSAI-licensed facilities, retail-ready).

ZoeM aggregates from cooperative networks across Karnataka and Northeast India. Pre-shipment testing covers moisture, gingerol % (pungency marker), foreign matter, and pesticide residues. Cold chain for fresh ginger from packhouse to port.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions

Fresh, dried, or powder — which?
Depends on use case and destination. Fresh ginger for short-haul wholesale/food service (Gulf, South Asia). Dried whole for long-haul, retail repacking. Powder for retail brands and supplement makers.
Does fresh ginger need refrigeration?
Yes. Fresh ginger ships in 40' refrigerated containers at 12–14°C. Without cold chain, shelf life drops dramatically and quality suffers.
What is the gingerol content?
Standard dried ginger tests 1.5–2.5% gingerol. Northeast premium (Sikkim, Meghalaya) can reach 3%+. Lab-tested.
Which Indian region produces the best ginger?
Northeast (Sikkim, Meghalaya) produces premium hill-grown ginger with high aroma and gingerol. Karnataka and Kerala produce reliable volume for mass export.
Can you supply organic?
Yes, organic-certified ginger (especially from Sikkim — India's first fully organic state) available on dedicated orders. Premium pricing.
What mesh sizes for powder?
40, 60, 80 standard. Custom mesh on request for supplement / capsule applications.
What payment terms?
Standard 30% T/T advance + 70% against B/L, or 100% LC at sight.
