Why Indian coconuts for export

India is the world's largest producer of coconut, with Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka producing over 14 billion nuts annually. Indian coconuts have a distinct flavour profile — sweeter water in tender nuts, thicker kernel in mature, and a recognisable shell quality that processors trust.

Three grades drive the Indian coconut export market: tender (drinking) for beverage and food-service buyers in the Gulf and Southeast Asia; mature dehusked for kernel processors and retail; and semi-husked for buyers who prefer presentation and longer shelf life.

ZoeM sources from cooperative farming networks across Pollachi (Tamil Nadu) and Palakkad (Kerala), with direct access to packhouses that handle dehusking, grading, polishing and palletisation. All shipments are NABL-tested for moisture, kernel weight, and acceptable husk percentage.

Buyer questions

Frequently asked questions

What coconut grades do you export?
Three grades: mature dehusked (for kernel/processing), tender (drinking, refrigerated), and semi-husked (presentation, longer shelf life). Each grade ships in its own configuration; quote provided per RFQ.
What is the difference between tender and mature coconut?
Tender coconuts are young green nuts harvested for water/jelly content — high water (250–400 ml), thin kernel. Mature coconuts are fully ripened with thick kernel for copra, milk and oil processing.
Do tender coconuts need refrigeration?
Yes. Tender coconuts ship in refrigerated containers at 0–4°C. Without refrigeration shelf life drops from 21–30 days to under a week.
Can you supply year-round?
Yes, year-round. Indian coconut production is continuous; we can guarantee monthly supply contracts.
How many coconuts fit in a 40' container?
A 40' RFC holds approximately 22–25 MT of mature coconuts (~45,000–55,000 nuts depending on size), or 18–20 MT of tender coconuts shrink-wrapped (~12,000–15,000 nuts).
What certifications do you have?
APEDA registered, FSSAI licensed, MSME registered. Our packhouses are inspected for hygiene and packaging quality.
What payment terms?
Standard 30% T/T advance + 70% against B/L. LC at sight accepted from first-class banks.
Do you supply coconut products beyond fresh nuts?
We focus on fresh nut exports. For coconut oil, milk, water, or desiccated coconut, we can refer trusted processing partners in Kerala.
